Today is Earth Day — a wonderful opportunity to express gratitude for the beautiful world we inhabit.

It’s also an opportunity to see what public schools teach children about the environment. Ever wonder what your child’s school teaches about climate change, population growth, or “green” practices? Well, at the Sutherland Institute, we reviewed Utah’s science and social studies curricula to find out what is taught. We discovered that most of the curriculum materials are accurate and balanced but that many of them teach unproven theory and seek to advance environmentalists’ political agenda.

I wrote a paper that outlines the findings. As you read it, you may be surprised to see some of the quotes we included that come directly from textbooks used in Utah schools (such as the title of this post).
